Antenatal Classes

Antenatal classes are run at several locations across Auckland. They are usually run one evening a week over six weeks or so, or over one or two weekend days. Most couples attend from about 28 weeks of pregnancy.

You can contact any of the providers below to find out about antenatal classes locally.

Breastfeeding

Your post-natal midwife will be able to provide breast feeding help and advice during your first few weeks at home. A number of lactation consultants in Auckland can also provide help and advice. Epidural Pain Relief Educational Sessions

The Anaesthetic department at National Women’s runs free monthly educational sessions explaining epidural pain relief in labour and answering any questions couples might have. The sessions typically last an hour and provide an opportunity to discuss epidural pain relief with one of our senior anaesthetic staff.
